How do I submit an article to Getting Smart!
We do accept submissions to Getting Smart! Articles generally should run about 1000-1200 words, and we prefer to publish case studies and stories with practical information about how to implement smart growth. We rarely run "opinion" pieces, except as letters to the editor. The audience is fairly broad, and includes people from many different fields (conservation, planning, real estate development, politics) and levels of expertise (from persons who are newly introduced to smart growth to long-time professionals).

Two other limitations: we cannot pay for submissions; we rely on authors who are interested in putting out information about their stories to this important audience. And because our newsletters are generally structured around "themes," we may hold a submission for a couple of months if it doesn't fit perfectly in the upcoming issue. (We may make an exception for a truly exceptional article.)

If you have a topic in mind, please feel free to contact me and we can discuss.
